Best Efficiency Point – BEP

by | Aug 28, 2017 | Application Topics

Every pump has an ideal range of operation where the pump is most efficient. The peak of the efficiency curve is known as the best efficiency point. AFT Fathom models pump curves with efficiency data and will determine the margin between the simulated operation of the pump and the actual best efficiency point (BEP). The HI Standard ANSI/HI 9.6.3 specifies allowable ranges of operation. Operating closer to a BEP increases reliability and reduces maintenance costs.
